LARA will gain its own “20-minute neighbourhood” with the development of Flinders Walk Estate, a new residential community designed around the principle of living locally.<\/p>\n
The 48-lot estate has been planned to give future residents easy access to everyday essentials like schools, healthcare, shops, parks and public transport within a short walk of home.<\/p>\n
It has been inspired by the Victorian government’s 20-minute neighbourhood framework, part of the Plan Melbourne 2017-2050 long-term strategy, that promotes the idea of “living locally”.<\/p>\n
The model aims to create neighbourhoods where residents can meet most of their everyday needs within a 20-minute walk from home.<\/p>\n
Positioned within Lara’s existing infrastructure network, Flinders Walk is close to both primary and secondary schools, while the proximity of medical centres and retail precincts adds further convenience.<\/p>\n
Public transport links include the Lara train station and nearby bus routes. The estate also offers direct connections by car to the Geelong CBD, the You Yangs and Melbourne via the Princess Highway.<\/p>\n
Green space has been prioritised in the design, with walking trails, parkland and open areas built into the layout. Its location, alongside Kevin Hoffman Walk and Flinders Reserve, providers direct access to the Hovell’s Creek trail network.<\/p>\n
Bisinella Developments director Richard Bisinella said the project was aimed at supporting a connected and convenient lifestyle.<\/p>\n
