{"id":110977,"date":"2025-10-10T10:43:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T23:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/severe-wind-alert-for-geelong-bellarine-and-surf-coast\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T10:43:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T23:43:12","slug":"severe-wind-alert-for-geelong-bellarine-and-surf-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/severe-wind-alert-for-geelong-bellarine-and-surf-coast\/","title":{"rendered":"Severe wind alert for Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds across Victoria&#8217;s south west, including Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine.<\/p>\n<p>Winds are expected to develop over southern and elevated parts of Victoria as a cold front moves across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Issued this morning (Friday, October 10) the alert warns of vigorous west to north-westerly winds averaging 60kmh to 70kmh with peak gusts of 90kmh to 100kmh expected in the early to mid-morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Victoria State Emergency Service has advised people driving in dangerous conditions should safely pull away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater.<\/p>\n<p>Residents and visitors are also asked to check that any loose items including outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured and vehicles are parked undercover or away from trees.<\/p>\n<p>If outdoors move to a safe place inside, stay away from windows, trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.<\/p>\n<p>Weather warnings should be monitored online at <a href=\"http:\/\/bom.gov.au\">bom.gov.au <\/a>or <a href=\"http:\/\/emv.vic.gov.au\">emv.vic.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds across Victoria&#8217;s south west, including Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine.
