{"id":111116,"date":"2025-10-17T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=111116"},"modified":"2025-10-15T17:56:38","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T06:56:38","slug":"north-bellarine-film-festival-launches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/north-bellarine-film-festival-launches\/","title":{"rendered":"North Bellarine Film Festival launches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL businesses and supporters of the North Bellarine Film Festival gathered at Portarlington&#8217;s Pier St cafe last week for the launch event.<\/p>\n<p>Around 70 film enthusiasts were in attendance to celebrate the November 14 and November 15 festival, as the main event edges closer.<\/p>\n<p>Committee vice-president Rob Walton said the atmosphere in the room was very lively.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/10\/IMG_3513_00546.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The November event will feature films from a range of categories including the Emerging Filmmaker Award, Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award and Short Film category.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s certainly a bit of excitement in the air this year, it&#8217;s a stepping stone from last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve certainly got a lot of supporters that are backing us now, so it&#8217;s really looking very positive this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now in its ninth year, the festival was established to bring high-quality films to the Bellarine and has continued to attract a growing audience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/10\/IMG_3505_00543.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There was a lively atmosphere in the room as attendees celebrated the upcoming event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year, filmmakers had the choice of entering into the Emerging Filmmaker Award, Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award, or the Short Film category.<\/p>\n<p>Finalists in both of the award categories will also go in the running for the People&#8217;s Choice Award, decided by an audience ballot on the second night of the festival.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/10\/IMG_3499_00528.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Festival committee president Bill Lussier and City of Greater Geelong councillor Rowan Story.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Walton said there is a very exciting selection of films screening this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Certainly, on the Friday night, we have a feature film, but we&#8217;re also including a film about our local swimmers at Indented Head, called the Salty Bitches, and that&#8217;s certainly attracting a lot of local attention.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/10\/IMG_3497_00473.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"460\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to purchase tickets to the North Bellarine Film Festival, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/northbellarinefilmfestival.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">northbellarinefilmfestival.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL businesses and supporters of the North Bellarine Film Festival gathered at Portarlington&#8217;s Pier St cafe last week for the launch event.
