{"id":111187,"date":"2025-10-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=111187"},"modified":"2025-10-16T13:40:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T02:40:18","slug":"boyle-to-pedal-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/boyle-to-pedal-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Boyle to pedal ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AN INDENTED Head local is gearing up for her 12th Great Vic Bike Ride and says the camaraderie of the event continues to bring her back year after year.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Boyle and her partner Vincent have been taking to their bikes since the early 2000s to compete in the fun social event<\/p>\n<p>This year, the five-day ride will span more than 300km of the Great Ocean Road&#8217;s coastlines, cliffs and winding country roads.<\/p>\n<p>Bike riders will have the choice of arriving in Mortlake on either November 23 or November 24 before setting off for Koroit.<\/p>\n<p>The route then includes Port Fairy, Port Campbell, Timboon and Camperdown, with an emphasis on a more relaxed tent-based holiday experience.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Boyle said she was incredibly excited to explore all the Great Ocean Road has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love everything about the Great Vic Ride.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With participants from under five to over 80 it is a community event for everyone&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have made friendships through the ride, especially the women&#8217;s community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Boyle said her dog has been helping to keep her fit and ready for the 300km ride.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got a kelpie cross that needs two runs a day, so we are often out on the beautiful trails with him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We love to stick to the Bellarine Peninsula, and sometimes we ride out to Torquay and back if we have a good time frame.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We aren&#8217;t guns, but we just love riding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>By the time she is 65 years old, Ms Boyle hopes to have done 15 Great Vic Bike Ride events.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m well on track, which is just terrific.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The five-day ride is $1,250 for adults, $950 for under 18s, and free for five and under.
