{"id":111318,"date":"2025-10-17T07:00:23","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T20:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=111318"},"modified":"2025-10-16T15:57:56","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T04:57:56","slug":"cycling-fever-hits-geelong-as-gran-fondo-celebrations-roll-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/cycling-fever-hits-geelong-as-gran-fondo-celebrations-roll-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Cycling fever hits Geelong as Gran Fondo celebrations roll in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EXCITEMENT is building across the region as four days of world-class cycling get underway.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s full steam ahead in Geelong today, with the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Family Ride and Team Relay events and SpinOff Festival landing in town.<\/p>\n<p>The day&#8217;s festivities promise an afternoon packed with action and live entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>SpinOff Festival, an initiative of the City of Greater Geelong, will kick off at 4pm at Eastern Beach Reserve.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-122463 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/10\/560823859_1276472111187350_4599330079468702462_n-819x1024.jpg?_t=1760590642\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Farah, a soulful Geelong-based singer-songwriter and GRID Series alum, will get the party started.<\/p>\n<p>Self-confessed rambler Hassall will follow at 5.10pm, before the Pierce Brothers and The Bamboos take to the stage at 7pm and 8.15pm, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>On the main stage at Eastern Beach Reserve, live music will kick off at 4pm from Farah, followed by Hassall, the Pierce Brothers and the Bamboos.<\/p>\n<p>The Hendry\u2019s SpinOff Family Ride also starts rolling at 4pm, giving riders the chance to tackle a 1.9km closed-road circuit along Upper Hearne Parade.<\/p>\n<p>At 6pm, competitive cyclists hit the track for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Team Relay, a high-speed test of skill and endurance around the 1.92km anti-clockwise criterium course. Presentations will follow at 6.45pm.<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations will flow on into the night at with music, food trucks, face painting and a silent disco lighting up the waterfront.<\/p>\n<p>The action doesn&#8217;t stop there, with the World Championship Road Race, Amy\u2019s Gran Fondo Recreational Ride and Amy\u2019s Family Fondo all set to take place in Lorne on Sunday (October 19).<\/p>\n<p>Cyclists will also make their way from Apollo Bay to Lorne for Amy\u2019s Medio Fondo on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/granfondogreatoceanroad2025.com.au\"><strong>granfondogreatoceanroad2025.com.au<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EXCITEMENT is building across the region as four days of world-class cycling get underway.
