GEELONG will look to finish a disappointing AFLW season strong as they travel to Ballarat’s Mars Stadium to take on the Western Bulldogs this weekend.<\/p>\n
With just a fortnight to play in the home and away season, the 13th-placed Cats have the slightest of hopes for a finals berth and must win to keep the door ajar.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs have the same 4-6 record as Geelong but sit two spots above them thanks to a 29 percent gap. They also must win if they are to give themselves a chance at their first flag since 2018.<\/p>\n
Geelong were well beaten by an impressive West Coast outfit last weekend, managing just two goals and a wayward seven behinds. Ball movement from the backline was inefficient and their 74 turnovers hurt them immensely.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs put the foot down to beat Gold Coast by 11 goals in Round 10, holding the Suns goalless while doing so. The 66-point margin was the largest in the club’s history and followed a 57-point win in round nine, giving them plenty of momentum heading into the latter end of the year.<\/p>\n
Cats onballer Nina Morrison will look to continue her strong 2025 campaign, after 27 touches and six tackles last round, whilst Mikayla Bowen will again look to make things happen up forward with her tenacity.<\/p>\n
Midfielders Jessica Fitzgerald and Isabelle Pritchard dominated for the Dogs last weekend, with 44 disposals, nine tackles and eight clearances between them. Elanie Grigg’s forward pressure will also be key, with the 19-year-old laying a match-high eight tackles.<\/p>\n
