STOCKLAND will officially open the new $14.5 million clubhouse at its Halcyon Horizon land lease community in Armstrong Creek tomorrow ((Saturday, October 25), with a community open day to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

The clubhouse is the first of its kind in the region and sets a new benchmark for over-55s living in Victoria.<\/p>\n

It features resort-style amenities including a gymnasium, a bowling green, a cinema room, pickleball courts, pools, sauna, an outdoor yoga space, and a golf simulator.<\/p>\n

The launch brings Stockland Halcyon\u2019s total investment in the Geelong region to approximately $741 million across three communities, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting the area’s rapid population growth and evolving housing needs.<\/p>\n

Stockland Halcyon Victoria general manager James Westh said the new clubhouse aimed to cater to the demand for resort-style living.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know there is increasing demand from those over 55 in the Geelong region for spaces where they can connect and stay active in a vibrant community.<\/p>\n

\u201cHalcyon Horizon celebrates the best of the Geelong lifestyle. We named Horizon after an aerial view looking south along Horseshoe Bend Road to the Surf Coast.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gave us a sense of possibility \u2013 something to look forward to over the horizon. Now, that feeling has come to life within our own community,\u201d<\/p>\n

Leading lifestyle medicine expert and author of Live More Happy<\/em>, Dr Darren Morton, who also serves as Stockland Halcyon\u2019s wellbeing advisor, will attend the open day.<\/p>\n

Dr Morton said the shift in homebuyer priorities reflects a growing desire among older Victorians to live in communities that support wellbeing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen people\u2019s environments are designed to encourage movement, connection and purpose, they don\u2019t just live longer \u2013 they live better.<\/p>\n

\u201cRetirement can be a time of increased happiness and fulfilment.<\/p>\n

“My advice is simple: stay active in whatever way works for you. There\u2019s real truth to the saying \u2018use it or lose it\u2019. This stage of life is about creating everyday moments that bring joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Residents in Stockland\u2019s over 55s communities report wellbeing scores 11.6 percentage points higher than the national average (84.7 per cent vs 73.1 per cent), driven by a strong satisfaction with their standard of living (87 per cent), personal relationships (86 per cent) and safety (83 per cent).<\/p>\n

Research from Geelong Australia shows in 2021 the population of those aged over 55 in Geelong was around 31.5 per cent, and this is expected to increase.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Geelong was also named Australia\u2019s leading regional relocation destination, attracting nearly 10 per cent of all internal movers nationwide.<\/p>\n

Homeowners Kevin and Bridget Cordell said the clubhouse had already transformed their lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a vibrant, welcoming community that offers fun, security and entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re just minutes from golf courses, the Great Ocean Road and only eight minutes from our children on the Surf Coast. Now, we have everything we need right here in the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is by far the best clubhouse we\u2019ve experienced. We\u2019ve been enjoying the pools, golf simulator and pickleball, and we\u2019ve already connected with new, like-minded friends \u2013 even though we\u2019ve only lived here for a few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Locals are invited to attend the Halcyon Horizon Open Day tomorrow from 10.30am to 1.30pm at 1 Horizon Entrance, Armstrong Creek.<\/p>\n

The event is open to the public and will include tours of the new Clubhouse, a talk from Dr Darren Morton at 11am, and opportunities to meet homeowners and experience how resort-style living for over-55s is being redefined in Armstrong Creek.<\/p>\n

The launch of the Halcyon Horizon Clubhouse highlights Stockland\u2019s ongoing commitment to investing in Victorian communities and creating spaces that support the wellbeing and connection of the state\u2019s growing over 55s population.<\/p>\n
