THROUGHOUT October, Victoria Police’s Geelong Community Engagement Unit has been out and about connecting with locals and celebrating the Victorian Seniors Festival.<\/p>\n
Running from October 1 until October 31, the festival recognises and celebrates the incredible contributions of older Victorians, offering a fantastic range of free and low-cost events that promote positive ageing and community connection.<\/p>\n
Community Engagement members have been busy attending events across the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions, sharing important information on senior safety \u2014 including personal security, cyber safety and elder abuse prevention.<\/p>\n
A highlight this month was welcoming residents from Sea View Manor, Ocean Grove, to the Bellarine Police Station, where they enjoyed a station tour and an engaging session on cyber safety.<\/p>\n
On October 24, Senior Constable Daniel Kuchenmeister represented Victoria Police at the Changing Minds and Positive Ageing Expo held at Club Italia.<\/p>\n
Proudly hosted in partnership with the Dementia Agencies Network Geelong (DANG) and the Barwon Elder Abuse Primary Prevention Network (BEAPP), the expo focused on living well, ageing positively and staying connected within the community.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police members also joined in Diwali celebrations across Geelong \u2014 the Hindu Festival of Lights, a joyous global event that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police is proud to support community events, helping to build strong, inclusive and safe communities where everyone feels valued and connected.<\/p>\n
Members thanked everyone who took part \u2014 enjoying seeing the community join together to learn, connect and celebrate.<\/p>\n
