LOCALS shared their thoughts on ways to improve safety on Portarlington-Queenscliff Road at a drop-in session last night.<\/p>\n

VicRoads held the session at the Piknik Caf\u00e9 (Queenscliff Road) and encouraged everyone to come along, ask questions, share their ideas and provide feedback.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting feedback and ideas from the people who use this road everyday will help VicRoads to better plan for safety upgrades in the future,\u201d Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said.<\/p>\n

At the moment, about 2500 vehicles travel along Portarlington-Queenscliff Road each day. The road is also a popular route for the cycling community in the region.<\/p>\n

In the past five years, 11 crashes have occurred on a 15-kilometre section of the road, between Pigdon Street and Yarra Creek Lane. Six of these crashes resulted in serious injuries.<\/p>\n
