MORE than 2,000 enthusiasts enjoyed a wide range of Lego exhibits, play area and masterclasses at Queenscliffe Bricks at the weekend.<\/p>\n
Rotary Club of Queenscliffe\u2019s Karen Pecar said there were more than 50 exhibitors organised by the Melbourne Lego User Group this year, with exhibits ranging from artworks and trains to pirates and princesses and everything in between.<\/p>\n
The community event run by the Rotary Club of Queenscliffe at Point Londsale Primary School raised more than $10,000 for local, national and international Rotary projects.<\/p>\n
\u201cResidents of Geelong and the Bellarine might have recognised \u2018Lathamstowe\u2019 in Queenscliff or the Geelong CFA and ambulance stations among mthe exhibits, but the carnivorous man-eating plant in the garden might have been a surprise,\u201d Ms Pecar said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLego guru Travis Matheson worked his Lego magic in the Masterclasses and revealed the secrets of \u2018brickbending\u2019 \u2013 the art of making straight bricks into curved shapes. In 20 minutes, the young Lego initiates managed to build a huge circle out of Lego that fit 40 adults and children inside.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cKale Frost took out the People\u2019s Choice Award for his build \u2018World\u2019s Finest\u2019 \u2013 a huge multidimensional mosaic which looked like Superman from one angle and Batman from another.<\/p>\n
