A PROPOSED hot springs and spa resort just to the north of the 12 Apostles appears to be moving forward, with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria considering a works approval application for the site.<\/p>\n
To be known as 12 Apostles Hot Springs, the resort will be located on 8.60 hectares of land formerly used as a dairy farm at 172 Booringa Road in Princetown.<\/p>\n
The company behind the proposal hopes to have spas and 30 rooms of accommodation by 2020, with a view to expanding to 150 rooms by 2026.<\/p>\n
On its website, Rocdon Development says the resort will \u201cunlock the destination\u2019s natural secrets by revealing a pristine, geothermal spa\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis luxe retreat and wellness destination will become a leading example of how tourism and pristine, protected natural environments can coexist for the benefit of all.\u201d<\/p>\n
To operate, the company requires an EPA works approval for a wastewater treatment plant at its site, as it will not be connected to existing infrastructure in the area.<\/p>\n
The works will independently treat two separate streams of wastewater \u2013 one is from toilets, spa and laundry, with a peak flow rate of 72 kilolitres per day or 27 megalitres annually; and the other is backwash water (from spas) at 40 kL per day.<\/p>\n
