THE Point Lonsdale Civic Association (PLCA) is running a survey to gather residents’ views on which municipality should govern the town.<\/p>\n

At the moment, Fellows Road divides the Borough of Queenscliffe and the City of Greater Geelong, resulting in different regulations and responsibilities depending on which side of the road residents live.<\/p>\n

This affects services such as road maintenance, flood response, and footpath construction.<\/p>\n

Significant portions of Point Lonsdale, including the Point Lonsdale Golf Club and nearby housing estates, now fall under the city but rely on borough facilities such as schools, beaches, and shops.<\/p>\n

Community concerns have also arisen regarding developments such as the Coles project, where entry to the borough is controlled by the city.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the PLCA<\/a> noted the Greater Geelong region is experiencing rapid growth, with more than 128,000 new homes expected in the next decade and an additional 400 homes planned for the borough.<\/p>\n

“There are concerns that the Borough of Queenscliffe may lose its identity if incorporated into the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n

“Point Lonsdale faces ongoing challenges, including parking, seasonal tourism pressures, and delayed infrastructure projects such as the lighthouse precinct and surf club facilities.<\/p>\n

“The Borough of Queenscliffe is also struggling to fund essential works to maintain community standards amid predicted growth.”<\/p>\n

The PLCA is encouraging readers to participate in the survey regarding the concept of a “one 3225” postcode.<\/p>\n
