{"id":112888,"date":"2025-11-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=112888"},"modified":"2025-11-21T11:39:58","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T00:39:58","slug":"to-howl-into-torquay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/to-howl-into-torquay\/","title":{"rendered":"Wolfmother to howl into Torquay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN hard rockers Wolfmother are set to light the Torquay Hotel ablaze with their high energy antics this December.<\/p>\n<p>The trio will be making the journey down to the Surf Coast to play back-to-back shows on December 17 and 18.<\/p>\n<p>Led by vocalist\/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, Wolfmother&#8217;s two-decade career has cemented them as a global force in rock.<\/p>\n<p>From headlining festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Splendour in the Grass, they are renowned for delivering show-stealing, packed-house crowds worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The band has released seven studio albums, including its 2005 debut self-titled album, which reached number three on the domestic charts.<\/p>\n<p>Several of the singles were high achievers including Woman and the chart-topping Joker &amp; the Thief, which received gold certification in Australia and the UK.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of 2007, the album had been certified five times platinum by ARIA and was nominated for the Album of the Year in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The band&#8217;s second album Cosmic Egg was released internationally by Modular in October 2009.<\/p>\n<p>It was another commercial success, reaching number 3 in Australia, number 16 in the US and number 35 in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>New Crown (2014), Victorious (2016), Rock&#8217;n&#8217;Roll Baby (2019) and Rock Out (2021) followed.<\/p>\n<p>The band has secured multiple Grammys and ARIA Awards and now have close to 100 million streams on Spotify.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of their two Torquay shows, Stockdale said excitement was high to be back on the road and heading into the summer period.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are feeling really good about it! We played down there at a festival maybe two or three years ago, and we had a few drinks at the Torquay Hotel and thought &#8216;This place is epic, we&#8217;ve got to play a gig here&#8217;. I&#8217;m glad we are finally being able to do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be super cool to play back-to-back nights. We had a similar thing happen in Switzerland with another venue which had about 1,000 capacity. It&#8217;s pretty awesome to play a gig, leave your stuff there, and play again the next night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stockdale said crowds could expect a full catalogue of music on the night, but Wolfmother&#8217;s hits would certainly be on the set list.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/11\/WMnewPROMOIMAGE_09706.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrew Stockdale has been leading Wolfmother for the past 20 years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Every show is about 50 per cent of the first record, and then one or two songs from every record since then, and a couple of covers here and there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My favourites to play are the biggest songs, being Woman and Joker &amp; the Thief. They just seem to be the easiest to play. They almost play themselves.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just have a love of touring, music and rock and roll. The fact I get to play music on stage and people turn up is a privilege. I&#8217;ll never take it for granted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Both gigs will statrt at 8pm.
