ANZAC Day commemorations in Queenscliff will receive fresh backing as part of a new round of Victorian government funding to support veterans and preserve their stories across the state.<\/p>\n
The Borough of Queenscliffe is one of 47 organisations to share in more than $1.5 million through the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund and Victoria Remembers grant program, which aims to honour service and strengthen wellbeing support for veterans and their families.<\/p>\n
The borough will use its funding to support its Anzac Day commemoration services next year.<\/p>\n
Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said the investment would help ensure veterans continue to be recognised and support by their communities.<\/p>\n
“We’re giving local organisations the support they need to care for and honour the veterans who served Australia, ensuring they continue to receive the recognition, support and connection they deserve.”<\/p>\n
Other initiatives to receive funding include the Ballarat Veterans Assistance Centre’s “Meet Your Veterans” exhibition, and Vasey RSL Care’s STRIVE project, a 12-month program supporting at-risk and homeless veterans through resilience and social connection services.<\/p>\n
Minister for Veterans Natalie Suleyman said these programs help communities deepen their understanding of veteran service.<\/p>\n
“These grants back the local organisations doing incredible work for our veterans and help ensure every Victorian has a deeper appreciation of the service and sacrifice that protects our way of life.”<\/p>\n
Victorian Veterans Council chair Greg Yorke said the funding support would make a meaningful difference to veterans and the communities around them.<\/p>\n
“These grants not only provide practical support for veterans but also help strengthen connection between veterans and their communities \u2013 reminding us of the service and sacrifice that has shaped our history and continues to inspire us today.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
