{"id":113027,"date":"2025-11-27T04:00:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T17:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=113027"},"modified":"2025-11-26T15:43:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T04:43:10","slug":"christmas-festivities-begin-in-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/christmas-festivities-begin-in-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas festivities begin in Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 20,000 people visited the Geelong Waterfront over the weekend for the launch of the Christmas in Geelong program.<\/p>\n<p>A picture-perfect evening of music and lights was enjoyed in the Steampacket Quay precinct, with Carols by the Bay and the lighting of the Floating Tree bringing it to life on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Carols host Denis Walter and performers including the Oz Boyz, Angie Hilton, Team Dream and Santa put on a dazzling show.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 596px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/11\/DenisWalterandMayorK_60687.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Denis Walter and Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Floating Christmas Tree was officially illuminated after dark by Flick the Switch competition winner Charlotte Rockafeller, 6, of Manifold Heights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s always a highlight of the calendar for me, the performers and our wonderful community,&#8221; Walter said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you to everyone who came out, sang along and embraced the festive spirit.
