GEELONG Venom have announced the signing of Australian guard Georgia Woolley as an injury replacement player for the rest of the WNBL season.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old joins the Venom with experience at college level in the USA, as well as a recent stint in the NBL1.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes after Gemma Potter was ruled out for the season with a torn ACL suffered in Geelong\u2019s loss to Adelaide earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Originally from Brisbane, Woolley is a former MAC Freshman of the Year winner with the University at Buffalo, and also spent time with Syracuse University where she impressed with her scoring ability and leadership traits.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, she returned to Australia to play for the Ballarat Miners in the NBL1 South, and looks set to form a lethal partnership with fellow Geelong guards such as Jaz Shelley, Shyla Heal and Lilly Rotunno.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnown for her size, poise and versatility, [Woolley] adds immediate depth to Geelong\u2019s perimeter rotation,\u201d the Venom\u2019s announcement stated.<\/p>\n
