MORE than $30,000 has been raised for the Give Where You Live Foundation during the foutth annual Bridge to Bridge charity ride.<\/p>\n
The Barwon Heads Cycling Club initiative saw nine riders take on a grueling 900km ride from Albury to Barwon Heads via the Victorian High Country.<\/p>\n
All funds raised went towards supporting the Foundation to create a fairer Geelong community.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads Cycling Club member Steve D’Andrea said the riders were delighted to support the cause.<\/p>\n
“Although some days were a challenge, especially when it snowed, the camaraderie and encouragement contributed to a fantastic event.<\/p>\n
“It’s the least we could do for our community. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our sponsors, the local community, friends and family. We’re looking forward to the next one!”<\/p>\n
Give Where You Live Foundation chief executive officer Zac Lewis said the Foundation was incredibly grateful to the Barwon Heads Cycling Club riders for their amazing efforts.<\/p>\n
“We’re working hard to create a fairer Geelong, and we can only do that with the support of our community.<\/p>\n
“The amazing efforts of the Barwon Heads Cycling Club’s Bridge to Bridge riders will directly help those most in need in our region.<\/p>\n
“All funds raised will assist in funding our own initiatives and local programs with a focus on food security, homelessness assistance and inclusive employment.”<\/p>\n
Spanning the four Bridge to Bridge charity rides, the Barwon Heads Cycling Club has now raised almost $180,000 for the Geelong community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
