{"id":113891,"date":"2025-12-11T13:51:54","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T02:51:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=113891"},"modified":"2025-12-11T13:52:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T02:52:31","slug":"magic-returns-as-christmas-tree-lights-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/magic-returns-as-christmas-tree-lights-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Magic returns as Christmas tree lights up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COMMUNITY members turned out in strong numbers on Saturday night as Point Lonsdale celebrated the annual lighting of its much-loved Christmas tree.<\/p>\n<p>After a day of shifting skies, organisers committed early to holding the event outdoors, with conditions clearing in time for the evening program.<\/p>\n<p>At 6pm families began spreading picnic rugs across the school grounds before local primary and kindergarten students performed carols alongside community musicians.<\/p>\n<p>Tree lighting committee member and Point Lonsdale Primary School principal Fay Agterhuis celebrated another successful event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a great crowd, and it all went smoothly,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The lights all went on, no hitches.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/0G2A0041_56397.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Primary school-aged Edie Wilkinson won the honour of flicking the switch on the Point Lonsdale Christmas tree this year.
