{"id":114003,"date":"2025-12-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=114003"},"modified":"2025-12-16T20:07:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T09:07:55","slug":"bins-bucks-and-better-futures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bins-bucks-and-better-futures\/","title":{"rendered":"Bins, bucks and better futures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>QUEENSCLIFF is showing how a small coastal town can make a big difference, one drink container at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to local resident Mark Gingell, the Borough of Queenscliffe and CDS Vic network operator TOMRA Cleanaway, a new recycling drive is turning empty bottles and cans into vital funds for Cottage by the Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Special Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) bins at Queenscliffe Tourist Park and Ocean View Kiosk give locals and visitors an easy way to recycle and support children in need.<\/p>\n<p>Every eligible drink container earns a 10-cent refund, with 100 per cent of proceeds donated to Cottage by the Sea&#8217;s programs for disadvantaged children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is such a simple, practical way for everyone to get involved,&#8221; Cottage by the Sea chief executive Adam Wake said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_176675\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-176675\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-176675\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Queenscliff_Bins_40095-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-176675\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new recycling drive in Queenscliff is turning empty bottles into vital funds for the charity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every container means another opportunity for a child to laugh, learn and grow.
