THE City of Greater Geelong is investigating reports of three dog attacks in the space of a day in Highton.<\/p>\n
On Friday, acting director of planning and development Joanne Van Slagern said the\u00a0 city\u2019s Animal Management Officers had been dealing with the three separate attacks, which all allegedly involved the same two Malamute\/Akita breed dogs, since 6am that day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe alleged attacks have resulted in the death of one dog and at least two other dogs have been taken to vets, one in a serious condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur officers, with the assistance of Victoria Police, have seized the two Malamute\/Akita dogs, which have been transported to the Geelong Animal Welfare Society.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn ambulance was called to check on an elderly resident, whose dog is deceased. \u201cParamedics cleared the resident to return home.<\/p>\n
\u201cA city officer assisted the resident in getting home and stayed until a family member arrived.\u201d She said the city was in the early process of its investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re currently working with Victoria Police to obtain more information as our investigations proceed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot comment further on the alleged attacks until investigations are complete.\u201d<\/p>\n
