{"id":115044,"date":"2026-01-17T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=115044"},"modified":"2026-01-16T12:28:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T01:28:23","slug":"the-rove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/the-rove\/","title":{"rendered":"The Rove comes to Ocean Grove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SWEET cocktails, decadent wines and local beers are flying out the door at one of the Bellarine&#8217;s newest trendy rooftop bars.<\/p>\n<p>The Rove has recently opened at the top of The Terrace in Ocean Grove and is sure to impress with its line-up of top drops.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/DSC06896_93506.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The interior of The Rove is warm and inviting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Specialising in signature cocktails, premium wines from all over the world and a fine selection of beers, the bar is quickly making a name for itself in the local hospitality scene.<\/p>\n<p>The Rove is the brainchild of Bomboras owners Tom McGrath and Josh Friend and business partner and venue manager Miraz Tastula.<\/p>\n<p>The vision builds on the popularity of the Bomboras Beach Bar in Torquay, providing Ocean Grove with a top spot to sip and socialise in the sun.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/DSC06985_93502.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The rooftop bar will be a top spot to have a drink this summer and beyond.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tastula said they have been thrilled with the feedback since opening in time for the peak summer period.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been really great opening out here, there&#8217;s plenty of oldies and youngins who have been coming in to have a taste of what we have to offer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The three of us in Tom, Josh and I really thought there was a great opportunity to do something here in Ocean Grove. I always wanted to do something like the Torquay Beach Bar, but just with a little bit of a touch-up.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/DSC08798_93633.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Live music is on most nights at the venue.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are a cruisy bar, with good vibes, live music and good drinks to fly around. Luckily community feedback so far has been fantastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tastula said its cocktails and wines have been very popular since their opening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got signature ones [cocktails] with gin, vodka, different margaritas and some other special ones that you don&#8217;t see at every bar or restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve gone really local with the wines which has been met with plenty of support.
