{"id":115146,"date":"2026-01-15T15:39:44","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T04:39:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/vic-open-weekend-kicks-off-with-pro-am-competition\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T15:43:37","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T04:43:37","slug":"vic-open-weekend-kicks-off-with-pro-am-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/vic-open-weekend-kicks-off-with-pro-am-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Vic Open weekend kicks off with Pro-Am competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A MIX of sporting stars, media personalities and sponsors hit the fairways at 13th Beach Golf Links on Wednesday (January 14) to help launch this year\u2019s Vic Open.<\/p>\n<p>About 200 players spread across the club\u2019s beach and creek courses under clear blue skies for the Vic Open\u2019s annual Pro-Am, with each group made up of one professional and three amateurs.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside professionals set to contest this weekend\u2019s Vic Open tournament, the field also featured a number of familiar faces from other industries and sporting code.<\/p>\n<p>The field included former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch, Barwon Heads-based broadcaster Mark Howard, ex-Melbourne Storm gun Ryan Papenhuyzen, West Coast Eagle Jayden Hunt and Geelong AFLW trio Claudia Gunjaca, Julia Crocket-Grills and Jackie Parry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/01\/VicOpen_Wed_BM-21_25146.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"710\" height=\"474\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cats AFLW defender Claudia Gunjaca won the women&#8217;s longest drive competition. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the creek course, the winning team finished with 113 points and included professional Maddison Hinson-Tolchard alongside amateurs John Walters, Bonnie Boezeman and Keira Woods.<\/p>\n<p>The beach course honours went to professional James Conran and amateurs Matt Hocking, Stephen Wall and Stephen Rowbotham, who combined for a score of 108 points.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights across the day included Western Australia professional Curtis Luck scoring an albatross on the par-5 seventh hole on the creek course, while the Cat&#8217;s Gunjaca claimed the women\u2019s longest drive and walked away with an Odyssey Ai-ONE putter.<\/p>\n<p>The official Vic Open tournament began today (January 15th) and will run until Sunday, January 18th.
