GEELONG’S Premier Men have suffered their eighth loss of the season in the Firsts after going down comfortably to Dandenong, making their finals chances even slimmer with two rounds to play.<\/p>\n
After going all out on day one for just 187, the Cats failed to limit a strong Panthers’ batting attack to lose by six wickets at the Geelong Cricket Ground on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Dandenong captain Brett Forsyth and Dhanusha Gamage made 93 runs apiece in a dominant second innings, with Joshua Slater adding an unbeaten 44.<\/p>\n
Cats vice-captain Josh Garner took two wickets in the defeat.<\/p>\n
Following the loss, Geelong sit 11th on the ladder, two points behind 10th-placed Ringwood.<\/p>\n
They now turn their attention to a two-day match with 14th-placed Frankston Peninsula, with a victory the only option to keep any hopes of playing in the postseason alive.<\/p>\n
The Cats’ Seconds enjoyed a dominant win after declaring for 304 and skittling Dandenong for just 195 in the second innings.<\/p>\n
Ryan Aikman top scored with 98 runs, while Lachlan Neate ripped through the Panthers’ bottom order to take five wickets.<\/p>\n
The Thirds also cruised to a win, with Tom Courtney making an unbeaten 125 and Kyle Bienefelt adding an unbeaten 57.<\/p>\n
