{"id":115866,"date":"2026-02-08T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=115866"},"modified":"2026-02-04T18:12:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T07:12:57","slug":"community-invited-to-open-day-with-korean-baseball-stars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/community-invited-to-open-day-with-korean-baseball-stars\/","title":{"rendered":"Community invited to open day with Korean baseball stars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG will welcome back Korean baseball team KT Wiz at a special open day this Sunday, February 8 at the Geelong Baseball Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The team, who are part of the Korean Baseball Organisation, are in town for a training camp, with the community invited to watch them practice before the open day begins in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>From 2pm to 4pm, the players will run an informal skills session with junior players, before an autograph and photo session to the tune of a DJ playing the latest K-Pop hits.<\/p>\n<p>The open day will also give the community a chance to admire the City of Greater Geelong&#8217;s $800,000 redevelopment of Geelong Baseball Centre&#8217;s Diamond One.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrades are set to be put to the test on February 16, as the Melbourne Aces take on KT Wiz in the first game of the Diamond Dual global series.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj expressed his excitement for the team travelling to Geelong and the opportunity for the community to get up close and personal with the players.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re incredibly fortunate to have KT Wiz back in the region training, playing and enjoying the local sights and attractions,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our open day will allow community members to get up close and personal with these elite baseballers and pick up some playing tips and tricks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s my hope that we&#8217;ll see a regular number of Geelong born-and-bred players stepping up to the plate to play Major League Baseball, or even in the KBO.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne Aces general manager Justin Huber said his side was eager to take on KT Wiz in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For our players, the chance to match themselves against some of the best in the world, will be a spectacle not to be missed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An international game like this, in an intimate community setting, just doesn&#8217;t happen anywhere these days, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to give the community of Geelong another great sporting event on the calendar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to the game are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/vivenu.com\/event\/melbourne-aces-v-kt-wiz-geelong-baseball-centre-ofib3i\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vivenu.com\/event\/melbourne-aces-v-kt-wiz-geelong-baseball-centre-ofib3i<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG will welcome back Korean baseball team KT Wiz at a special open day this Sunday, February 8 at the Geelong Baseball Centre.
