COMMUNITY groups planning public events in 2026 are being encouraged to apply for a new round of quick response grants, with applications now open.<\/p>\n
The grants are designed to support events with external bidding deadlines, those requiring early funding approval, or initiatives responding to emerging community needs.<\/p>\n
To be eligible, events must be held within Greater Geelong, be open to the public and attract at least 300 attendees.<\/p>\n
Funding can be sued for costs such as venue hire, security and event equipment or infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Geelong mayor, Stretch Kontelj, said the program would help community organisers deliver events that bring people together.<\/p>\n
“These grants give organisers the flexibility to move ahead with their plans without waiting for the main annual funding round,” he said.<\/p>\n
“They’re designed to support events that celebrate local talent, strengthen community connection and contribute to the vibrancy of our region.”<\/p>\n
Cr Eddy Kontelj, the council’s arts and culture, hospitality and live entertainment portfolio chair, said the funding opportunity was open to both new and returning events.<\/p>\n
“These grants give people the chance to bring exciting events to our region,” he said. “If you have an idea that will benefit the community, now is the time to apply.”<\/p>\n
Applications close on May 31. The city’s says funding will be offered on a first-in, first-served basis to eligible applicants until the closing date or until all funds are allocated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
