Over two memorable days in November, Tuckers Funeral and Bereavement Service offered residents from seven aged care homes across the region a rare and beautiful opportunity: the chance to experience horse therapy.<\/p>\n

Two gentle horses, accompanied by their skilled handlers, stepped quietly into the courtyards and into the residents’ world. Horace, a majestic white horse with a calm presence, and his companion simply walked into their home, to them.<\/p>\n

Imagine sitting on your outdoor deck and hearing the unexpected rhythm of hooves approaching. At first, you might think, that can’t be right. And then you look up and there you are, face to face with a horse.<\/p>\n

It was remarkable to witness the deep and intuitive bond that can exist between humans and horses.<\/p>\n

These powerful yet perceptive animals seemed to understand the moment, allowing residents to connect in their own way \u2013 welcoming pats, scratches, conversations, and of course, a carrot or two.<\/p>\n

As Sir Winston Churchill famously said:”There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”<\/p>\n

Everyone present saw this truth come alive.<\/p>\n

For some residents, especially those who once cared for horses, the visit unlocked treasured memories \u2013 faces lit up, stories resurfaced and emotions flowed freely.<\/p>\n

Others, who often choose not to take part in social activities, were inspired to join in. The joy and connection on their faces was unforgettable.<\/p>\n

One resident, after mustering the courage to pat a horse for the very first time, exclaimed: “God knew what he was doing when he created the horse!”<\/p>\n
