LOCAL families, artists and environmental groups will gather in Ocean Grove next month for a community-led festival aimed at showcasing practical ways to build a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

The One Planet Festival will take over Ocean Grove Park on March 28, with a day of workshops, food, music and activities organised by volunteers from Parents for Climate.<\/p>\n

Event co-organiser Lauren Ball said the festival was focused on tangible change at a local level.<\/p>\n

“This festival is about hope in action,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s a chance for people to experience practical solutions, meet their neighbours and see just how much is already happening across our region to create positive change.”<\/p>\n

Across the park, five themed zones will explore topics ranging from food and energy to nature and wellbeing, with dedicated activities for children.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Attendees will be able to meet local producers, take part in a seed swap and learn about permaculture in the food and growing zone, and get hands-on with electric vehicles, solar and home energy solutions in the energy and resilience zone.<\/p>\n

Workshops on coastal care and biodiversity will feature in the nature connection and care zone, while the belonging and wellbeing space will host a climate cafe and other creative projects.<\/p>\n

A dedicated children’s zone will offer nature-based play and art activities.<\/p>\n

Bellarine Parents of Climate’s Laura Billings said the event aimed to make climate action feel less overwhelming.<\/p>\n

“This festival reminds us that the answers are right here, in our community, our creativity and our care for each other and our kids,” she said.<\/p>\n

Fellow organiser Jacqui Dunn said the festival relied entirely on local support.<\/p>\n

“Everyone involved, from parents and local businesses to artists and schools, is volunteering their time and resources to make something meaningful together,” she said.<\/p>\n

“That’s the spirit we want people to feel on the day.”<\/p>\n

The festival will run from 11am to 5pm at Ocean Grove Park on March 28.<\/p>\n

Expressions of interest for stallholders and performers have closed, but organisers are still seeking volunteers in the lead-up to the event and on the day.<\/p>\n
