The Borough of Queenscliffe has appointed a new chief executive, following the early termination of former CEO Martin Gill\u2019s contract late last year.<\/p>\n

Jane Grover, who served as chief executive of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust between 2014 and 2022, will step into the role on 16 March.<\/p>\n

Queenscliffe mayor, Donnie Grigau, said she was selected from more than 100 applicants and the council is confident she is well-suited to lead the organisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cJane is a highly experienced and values-driven executive who understands the particular challenges faced by small coastal councils,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer background in leading complex organisations, managing ageing assets, balancing community expectations and maintaining long-term financial sustainability aligns strongly with the needs of the Borough of Queenscliffe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grover has also held senior executive roles in organisations such as the Box Hill Institute, and Cr Grigau said she will bring a strong focus on community consultation, governance and service delivery to the new role.<\/p>\n

Her appointment follows the departure of former chief executive Martin Gill in November last year<\/a>, after the council \u201cagreed terms for the early finalisation\u201d of his contract.<\/p>\n

Seasoned local government executive, Michael Tudball, was installed as interim CEO<\/a> while the council undertook its recruitment process.<\/p>\n

Cr Grigau said the council unanimously endorsed Grover\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil was on appointing a CEO with proven leadership and project management capability, sound judgement and the ability to work constructively with councillors, staff and the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cJane demonstrated a clear understanding of Queenscliffe\u2019s unique character and a strong commitment to listening, stewardship, transparency and disciplined decision-making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grover said she was committed to working closely with the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am committed to working alongside council and our community to strengthen services and deliver on our strategic goals, to ensure Queenscliff remains a vibrant place to live, work and visit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
