JOIN us for Cultura’s 2026 Pako Festa on Saturday 28 February when Pakington Street is transformed into a huge street party and free for all to celebrate the rich diversity Geelong has to offer.<\/p>\n

The theme for Pako Festa 2026 is ‘Many Cultures, One Street: Celebrating Identity with Pride’.<\/p>\n

Pako Festa is Cultura’s signature event and Victoria’s premier multicultural festival offering a smorgasbord of cultural food, folk dancing, the famous Pako Parade at 11am, workshops, craft displays and entertainment on six world music stages in a 1km street festival.<\/p>\n

The street springs alive with colour and movement, pop-up food vans, cafes, restaurants and marquees lining Pakington Street, Geelong West and West Park. The event is a major fundraiser for these local, diverse communities, so please make sure you show them support and visit them on the day.<\/p>\n

Walk your way along Pakington Street to dine on authentic dishes from around the globe.<\/p>\n

Over 20 local community groups will cook up a storm from Indonesian Nasi Goreng to the popular Greek Souvlaki, a dish that has been a highlight since the inaugural event 44 years ago and continues to live up to its reputation.<\/p>\n

Once your tastebuds have been ignited, it’s time to explore six world music, performance and dance stages to enjoy the free entertainment from 12.30pm\u20135pm along the street.<\/p>\n

The West Town Hall will once again be transformed into an indoor global craft and produce market from 12pm\u20135pm.<\/p>\n

New elements include:<\/p>\n

Geelong Arts Centre RAW Stage, which offers a new platform for young emerging artists of diverse backgrounds to present new contemporary performances. The stage will be located at the northern end of the festival between Waratah and Maitland streets.<\/p>\n

The ‘Shop Local, Support Local’ Competition. Pako Festa visitors have the chance to win a $1,000 cash prize (three are up for grabs). Spend a minimum of $30 in any business along Pakington Street within the event precinct from 9am\u20133.30pm for your chance to win. Winners will be drawn at 4pm on the Gordon Stage in West Park. Full terms and conditions can found on the website.<\/p>\n

TAC Street Parade: The parade will be live streamed to Facebook from 11am.<\/p>\n

Pako Festa media wall: A new opportunity to take some snaps with a diverse collection of our community members in traditional costume rotating during the day. 1pm\u20135pm in Albert Street. The event mascot Carmen Miranda will also make a surprise visit.<\/p>\n

This spectacular event brings diverse community groups together and offers a safe environment in which to share their culture with the broader community. It is about enriching and celebrating human connections and culture.<\/p>\n

Pako Festa is produced by Cultura and is supported by the Victorian government and the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
