POLICE members have been on the beat across the Bellarine speaking with locals to gather insights and information about safety issues affecting them.<\/p>\n
During the past three weeks, police have been carrying out community engagement activities in Leopold, Point Lonsdale, Drysdale and\u00a0Queenscliff. These activities were delivered as part of the Community Safety Networks \u2013 a partnership\u00a0project between the Victorian community, Victoria Police, Victorian government, Crime Stoppers Victoria and Neighbourhood Watch.<\/p>\n
The Community Safety Networks will support communities and police to increase their understanding of local crime issues and help inform local policing priorities.<\/p>\n
Inspector Shane Madigan said police were always looking to increase their connections with the local community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity for the community to have a say on the key issues within Geelong,\u201d Insp Madigan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that people have great insight into their local community and ideas about other ways to prevent crime.<\/p>\n
\u201cIssues identified will inform the development of projects and initiatives to help improve community safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
