{"id":11743,"date":"2018-06-27T09:42:06","date_gmt":"2018-06-27T09:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=11743"},"modified":"2018-07-03T05:30:35","modified_gmt":"2018-07-03T05:30:35","slug":"bacas-plans-for-an-aged-friendly-communities-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bacas-plans-for-an-aged-friendly-communities-group\/","title":{"rendered":"BACA\u2019s plans for an aged-friendly communities group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW group formed by the Bellarine Aged Care Association (BACA) recently met to discuss issues affecting the aged and ageing, and to develop plans for Aged Friendly communities on the Bellarine.<\/p>\n<p>The Age Friendly Group attracted participants from Drysdale, Portarlington, Clifton Springs and Leopold who actively engaged in raising issues, which included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The difficulties encountered with accessing aged services, particularly the Commonwealth government\u2019s MyAgedCare<\/li>\n<li>The waiting lists and waiting times for services desperately needed by the aged and ageing, such as simple house maintenance and garden maintenance, and<\/li>\n<li>Support services required to ensure those living alone can be accessed to ensure they are safe and well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BACA hopes issues and difficulties raised during the Age Friendly Group meetings will highlight the issues and difficulties being faced by the aged and ageing \u2013 which represent 33 per cent of Bellarine\u2019s population.<\/p>\n<p>Members will feed in \u201cstories\u201d of issues to a group journal to record and be a basis for action.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on BACA, Age Friendly Communities Group email coghlan532@gmail.com or underseas@bigpond.com or phone SpringDale on 5253 1960.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW group formed by the Bellarine Aged Care Association (BACA) recently met to discuss issues affecting the aged and ageing, and to develop plans for Aged Friendly communities on the Bellarine.
