Camp4Cancer will return to Murgheboluc Hall and Recreation Reserve for a second year from 27\u201329 March, giving locals and visitors a chance to commemorate, celebrate and connect for a cause.<\/p>\n

The event invites people to camp together for the weekend \u2013 from swags and tents to caravans and motorhomes \u2013 while raising funds for cancer support and research.<\/p>\n

The weekend-long fundraiser will support the Andrew Love Cancer Centre, with options to camp from Friday to Sunday or attend on a\u00a0day ticket.<\/p>\n

Originating in Melbourne in 2014, Camp4Cancer has historically fundraised for the Peter McCallum Centre. Last year, the charity expanded its support to include the Andrew Love Cancer Centre with a dedicated Geelong event, raising more than $28,000 for the centre’s vehicle transport program, which supports patients without reliable public transport.<\/p>\n

The event brings together people from across the community who have been touched by cancer in different ways.<\/p>\n

Camp4Cancer head of Geelong operations, Christine Blackley, said attendees had a fabulous time last year and she is looking forward to another great event.”It was good to bring people together to celebrate because there are people that struggle with the disease and diagnosis so it helps people band together,” she said.<\/p>\n

“There were some really touching moments when people got to know each other and how far they had come.”<\/p>\n

The weekend program will include market stalls, expert guest speakers and live music, including acts from Smack Bang and Geelong local Zoe Alexis.<\/p>\n

“The day is jam-packed,” Blackley said. “We’ve got lots of things happening.”<\/p>\n

Blackley encouraged everyone to come along, whether for the weekend or just for the day, to enjoy all that is on offer, including space for remembrance and reflection.<\/p>\n

“It’s a much-needed thing and we need the support to make this happen and keep going,” she said.<\/p>\n

Camp4Cancer is a family- and pet-friendly event.<\/p>\n
