BELLARINE\u00a0 Peninsula musicians are not staying quiet about ending family violence, and will host a performance on the streets of Queenscliff to rase awareness of the issue next weekend.<\/p>\n
Shedding the Blues, featuring musicians including Sarah Carroll, Andrea Robertson, Rob Grundel and Tess Duddy, has joined forced with the Sea of Ukes and the New Swell Choir and will collectively perform several powerful and thought-provoking songs from artists such as John Legend, Pink, Archie Roach, The Doobie Brothers and The Beatles.<\/p>\n
“We have been lending our voices in an effort to raise awareness across the community while supporting families so badly affected by this significant challenge,” Lending our Voices Everywhere project lead, Lynne Juniper, said.<\/p>\n
Locals are encouraged to come to Wirrng Wirrng (the Queenscliffe Hub) and sing along to raise awareness and discuss ways of supporting victim survivors of family violence.<\/p>\n
“We have wonderful support from a number of community groups and from the Borough of Queenscliffe with former mayor Cr Isabelle Tolhurst also leading us in a song,” Shedding the Blues, chair, Des Gorman, said.<\/p>\n
Juniper added: “While this engaging pop-up performance will focus on the need for peace and love within families with songs like All You Need is Love and Stand by Me, we will also include a number of songs with confronting themes and messages, such as Walking into Doors by Archie Roach and What About Us by Pink.”<\/p>\n
The performance will take place at the Queenscliffe Hub on 11 April from 10.30am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
