{"id":11998,"date":"2018-06-27T07:41:57","date_gmt":"2018-06-27T07:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=11998"},"modified":"2018-07-02T10:33:17","modified_gmt":"2018-07-02T10:33:17","slug":"danger-set-to-delight-crowds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/danger-set-to-delight-crowds\/","title":{"rendered":"Danger set to delight crowds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AFL footballer and Moggs Creek resident, Patrick Dangerfield, will be the guest speaker at an upcoming Anglesea Golf Club dinner.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organisers from the Aireys Inlet Uniting Church said Surf Coast residents are looking forward to hearing from their local boy, who is making a name for himself on the speaker circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong AFL star, 2016 Brownlow medallist, AFL Player\u2019s Association President, husband and father and co-host of fishing podcast Reel Adventures \u2013 there is more to Dangerfield than meets the eye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t have to be a Cats fan, or even to know much about football to enjoy the evening,\u201d said one of the organisers, Mary Bremner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatrick will be talking about new approaches sports psychologists are using to build winning teams. Young men are encouraged to share their vulnerabilities with each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is contrary to the old macho culture of days gone by and has implications for the ways boys and men can find new models of masculinity more fitted for today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, Patrick will talk on a range of issues and there will be lots of opportunities for people to ask questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guest speakers of past Aireys Inlet Uniting Church events have included refugee advocate, Julian Burnside, judge Felicity Hampel, who spoke on women in the law, and Professor Greg Barton who shared his knowledge of international terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the evening will go to the Kids Plus Foundation in Geelong and Uniting Church outreach programs.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will enjoy a two-course dinner, starting at 6pm on Monday July 9 at the Anglesea Golf Club.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $60 per person and can be bought from Edie by phoning 5289 7415 or emailing jebarton@westnet.com.au, or from Marilyn by phoning 0427 750 369 or emailing wethem1@bigpond.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFL footballer and Moggs Creek resident, Patrick Dangerfield, will be the guest speaker at an upcoming Anglesea Golf Club dinner.
