Photo: James Taylor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because of that sensitivity and the national security elements of that, the golf club is likely \u2013 well, more than likely \u2013 to remain as a golf club, as a golf course,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In some respects \u2013 and I was joking around about this earlier today \u2013 it has become a national security imperative for everyone to continue to play golf. &#8220;Are you a golfer? Lucy Croxford, of Australian Air Force Cadets 429 Squadron based at Fort Queenscliff, asked whether a purpose-built facility would be provided on the Bellarine Peninsula if the unit was relocated.<\/p>\n<p>Khalil said a multi-user depot was planned for Geelong, but acknowledged travel distances could be a barrier for some cadets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will be ensuring that the cadet units \u2013 even if they&#8217;re small ones, if they have to travel too far, they&#8217;re regional \u2013 we&#8217;ll make sure that they have the facilities leased at community halls and schools that gives them the opportunity to continue,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/05\/IMG_9649_15845.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"370\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lucy Croxford, of Australian Air Force Cadets 429 Squadron, raised concerns about future facilities for local cadets.
