THE Surf Coast Writers Festival is just over a month away, with tickets already selling fast for the highly anticipated one-day event set to take over RACV Torquay on Saturday 27 June.<\/p>\n

Bringing together a diverse lineup of authors, creatives and storytellers, the festival is shaping up to be a standout cultural event for the region \u2013 but it is the strong sense of community behind it that is taking centre stage this year.<\/p>\n

Local supporting partner Stretton Developments has helped open the doors for young writers, providing tickets for students from Indie School and Surf Coast Secondary College to attend the teen writing workshop with local YA author, Miranda Luby.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to encourage creativity and provide local students with direct access to industry insights and inspiration.<\/p>\n

In another community-focused initiative, tickets have also been gifted to the Surf Coast Women’s Health Group for the session with author Emma Hardy about her memoir Periodic Bitch, recognising the organisation’s ongoing work supporting and educating women across the Surf Coast.<\/p>\n

Festival co-director Mia de Rauch said the festival is as much about connection as it is about storytelling.<\/p>\n

“We really wanted the Surf Coast Writers Festival to feel like it belongs to the community,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Working with partners like Stretton Developments to make the festival accessible to local students and organisations is a big part of that. It’s about creating opportunities, sparking ideas and bringing people together.”<\/p>\n

The full-day program will feature author talks, panel discussions, workshops and one-on-one conversations, highlighting voices from across Australia while celebrating the creativity of the region.<\/p>\n

With limited tickets remaining for several sessions, locals are encouraged to book early to avoid missing out.<\/p>\n
