OCEAN Grove author Dorothy Johnston will hold a Crime Writing workshop at the Barwon Heads Library later this month.<\/p>\n
A great supporter of the library and the endeavours of the Friends of Barwon Heads Community Library\u00a0group, Dorothy has recently begun a sea-change mystery series set in Queenscliff.<\/p>\n
The first two titles are Through a Camel\u2019s Eye and The Swan Island Connection.<\/p>\n
Dorothy is the author of 11 novels, including a quartet of mysteries set in Canberra, known as the Sandra Mahoney quartet.<\/p>\n
The first of these, The Trojan Dog, was joint winner ACT Book of the Year.<\/p>\n
Two of Dorothy\u2019s literary novels, One for the Master and Ruth, have been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin award.<\/p>\n
She has published many short stories in journals and anthologies, along with essays in Australia\u2019s major newspapers and journals.<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads Library continues to flourish with an increase in membership of about 65 per cent since January 2017 \u2013 Year to Date (YTD) increase in visits of 82 per cent and YTD increase in loans of 35 per cent.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe welcomed the news from our local councillors of confirmation that the draft Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) budget has been endorsed and Barwon Heads Community library funding is to continue,\u201d Mandy Bridges from Friends of Barwon Heads Community Library said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to the library continuing to prosper with the support of our local community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The workshop is at the Barwon Heads Community Library on Sunday July 22 from 2pm to 4pm.<\/p>\n
This event is open to adults and young people from the age of 10, and is free, but places are limited, so booking is essential.<\/p>\n
