{"id":12125,"date":"2018-07-04T09:32:57","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T09:32:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=12125"},"modified":"2018-07-06T09:29:41","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T09:29:41","slug":"calling-for-animal-welfare-expertise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/calling-for-animal-welfare-expertise\/","title":{"rendered":"Calling for animal welfare expertise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Victorian Government is seeking expressions of interest for eight members to join the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) for a term of up to three years.<\/p>\n<p>The non-statutory committee is appointed by the Minister for Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>It provides expert advice to the Minister as well as Animal Welfare Victoria on matters relating to the welfare of animals and with expressions of interest close on 13 July 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Animal Welfare Victoria Executive Director Sally Fensling, thanked the incumbent committee members for their great work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe advisory committee plays a crucial role working with Minister and Animal Welfare Victoria to improve the treatment and welfare of animals in Victoria,\u201d Ms Fensling said.<\/p>\n<p>The current committee is chaired by Professor Ron Slocombe, a veterinary specialist with over 25 years\u2019 experience in pathology and academia.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants will include a variety of expertise, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agricultural, animal or veterinary science<\/li>\n<li>Care, breeding and management of companion animals<\/li>\n<li>Animal welfare expertise; public policy<\/li>\n<li>Commercial, recreational, display and scientific use of animals<\/li>\n<li>Ethical standards and conduct in respect of animals<\/li>\n<li>Wildlife conservation and management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information and to submit an expression of interest, visit getonboard.vic.gov.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Victorian Government is seeking expressions of interest for eight members to join the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) for a term of up to three years.
