{"id":121795,"date":"2026-06-22T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=121795"},"modified":"2026-06-17T22:04:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T12:04:52","slug":"geelong-botanical-gardens-to-glow-in-immersive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/geelong-botanical-gardens-to-glow-in-immersive\/","title":{"rendered":"Geelong Botanical Gardens to glow in immersive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Geelong Botanical Gardens will transform after dark this winter, with a new immersive light exhibit set to bring colour, storytelling and a boost of tourism to the city.<\/p>\n<p>Eclipse: In Bloom is an immersive experience, featuring delicate glows to large-scale installations, telling the story of a garden coming to life after sunset.<\/p>\n<p>Created by entertainment technology agency Laservision, every installation is unique to the landscape and the story of the site.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We always base our shows on the location \u2013 we customise everything to the site, and there&#8217;s always a story behind it,&#8221; Laservision marketing manager Sarah Yusuf said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s what sets us apart from traditional light shows; we tell a story and we connect with the nature of the place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_189441\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189441\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-189441\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/DSC01846_08715.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-189441\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The light show will illuminate the botanic gardens in Geelong this winter. Photo: Laservision.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For Geelong, the story draws on native Australian flowers and the blue-banded bee, a tiny pollinator that symbolises growth and revitalising.<\/p>\n<p>The production has taken months of planning behind the scenes, with a large team involved in creative development, programming and on-site installation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These shows take months and months behind the scenes,&#8221; Yusuf said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s quite a big team \u2013 from creative concept through to onsite programming to make sure everything runs perfectly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf said the team works carefully to protect the gardens, with strict restrictions in place to ensure the installations do not damage the flora or broader ecosystem.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_189442\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189442\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-189442\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/IMG_0806_08710.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-189442\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The light shows have travelled all around the country attracting audiences of all ages to experience gardens in a new way. Photo: Laservision.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The appeal, she said, lies in the transformation of a familiar space into something entirely new.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People know the botanical gardens by day, but they wouldn&#8217;t imagine it being transformed at night,&#8221; Yusuf said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With thousands of lights, custom-made installations and interactive elements, the show is designed to immerse visitors of all ages.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As soon as you step through, you enter a whole new world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Laservision art director Angela Davis said the experience is an immersive opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_189443\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189443\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-189443\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/P3211352_08678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"420\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-189443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">With opening during the school holidays, Eclipse: In Bloom has lots of opportunities for children and adults to enjoy the magic. Photo: Laservision.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With In Bloom, we wanted to capture that magical moment when nature awakens,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The forest becomes a living canvas where light, colour and sound transform the landscape into something truly enchanting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time Eclipse: In Bloom has been staged in Geelong, after successful runs elsewhere around Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The event has already generated a strong response, with families, children and older visitors all expected to be drawn to the experience<\/p>\n<p>Laservision is also hoping the exhibit will support local tourism and the economy, with Yusuf praising the support of the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Geelong Botanical Gardens will transform after dark this winter, with a new immersive light exhibit set to bring colour, storytelling and a boost of tourism to the city.
