On the field, Jovanovic credits a simple approach and the work of his teammates for his strong start to the season.<\/p>\n
“I’ve got the same set-shot routine that I’ve been doing for the past few years and it’s been working well, so I just stick to that,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I know how important it is for me to finish my work in front of goal, because the boys up the ground are working their backsides off to create those opportunities. It’s a team effort and we want the best for each other.”<\/p>\n
Jovanovic is also on Geelong’s VFL list, an environment he uses to aid his development and form at GFL level.<\/p>\n
“I’m learning lots there and then taking it away and trying to implement it into my games at Joeys,” he said. “The coaching staff and leadership group there are always pushing us to get better and it’s just a great environment to be a part of.”<\/p>\n
St Joseph’s currently sits in fifth spot with an 8-4 record, ahead of a crucial clash with second-placed Newtown & Chilwell this weekend.<\/p>\n
Jovanovic said the focus remained on building momentum, with the hope of having the opportunity to avenge their 2025 grand final defeat.<\/p>\n
“We just need to take it week by week,” he said. “Just keep piling on wins to try and help us sit healthy on the ladder so we can have the best chance of playing finals.”<\/p>\n
Individually, Jovanovic still has one major goal to tick off in season 2026 \u2014 earning a VFL game with the Cats.<\/p>\n
“Personally, I just need to stay consistent, compete hard and keep taking on feedback,” he said. “If I keep doing those things, the rest will take care of itself.<\/p>\n
“When the opportunity comes, I’ll be ready.”<\/p>\n
