Photo: James Taylor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It required complex engineering due to the golf club&#8217;s location on soft ground close to the Barwon River.<\/p>\n<p>Ocean Grove Golf Club general manager Russell Powell said community groups using the clubhouse had already welcomed the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Among them is the Ocean Grove Film Society, which has two members who use wheelchairs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re very excited about it,&#8221; Powell said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/07\/IMG_9872_57361.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The ramp cost $50,000 and was supported by a grant from the federal government. Photo: James Taylor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The club received a $17,000 Stronger Communities Program grant to construct the new ramp with the assistance of federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Coker congratulated the club on its efforts to secure the grant and the use of local builders on the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the spinoffs from these grants is that it&#8217;s a catalyst to getting the job done for many community groups, but it also means often you can increase employment locally,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHEELCHAIR users and families with prams are already benefiting from a new accessible entrance at the Ocean Grove Golf Club.
