STUDENTS from 18 different countries will converge in Queenscliff later this month for a week-long camp.<\/p>\n
Thirty-six international students aged between 17 and 20 years will spend four weeks in Australia \u2013 three weeks staying with host families and one week at Camp Koala.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by their local Lions Club, Camp Koala activities include team leadership, geocaching, exploring the local Queenscliff area, visiting Ballarat\u2019s Sovereign Hill and Wildlife Park, canoeing, bike riding, swimming, bush dancing, taking a train to Melbourne\u2019s CBD, a boat cruise on the bay, as well as a talent quest and student presentations about their country.<\/p>\n
This will be the 20th year of Camp Koala, and the eighth year at Queenscliff, bringing international and Australian students together.<\/p>\n
The camp is a great opportunity for young people to realise that despite the world\u2019s problems, there are more similarities than differences between them.<\/p>\n
Camp Koala is supported by Lions Clubs across Australia through funding and hosting students. Lions Camp Koala will be held at YMCA Camp Wyuna, Queenscliff, from July 22 to 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
