ANOTHER home in Torquay has been sold for a big price at auction, with the hammer coming down at 72 Fischer Street for $800,000.<\/p>\n
The auction on Saturday morning started with sunny weather and blue sky overhead, which was a welcome relief for all parties involved given the weather forecast predicted.<\/p>\n
There were two bidders on the property, auctioned by McCartney Real Estate\u2019s John McMahon and Graeme McCartney, with a crowd of about 50 people looking on.<\/p>\n
The house has been in the same family since the 1950s so it was a sentimental sale for the family as well as the purchasers \u2013 a young couple renting in Torquay just around the corner.<\/p>\n
The purchasers, who were excited to have made the winning bid, had a number of extended family supporting them at the auction.<\/p>\n
The advertising campaign for the property drew considerable interest, with 60 groups inspecting the home and 75 internet enquiries.<\/p>\n
McCartney Real Estate says the minimal stock in Old Torquay means properties in the area continue to be highly sought.<\/p>\n
