THE successful Use It or Lose It bus challenge campaign has come to a close with more than 100 people putting their car keys away to use the bus instead.<\/p>\n
Since launching in April, the campaign has been a hit across the Northern Bellarine, with locals swapping four of their normal car trips with bus trips over the three months.<\/p>\n
The campaign was led by the Northern Bellarine Transport Action Group (NBTAG) to support their vision of a strong and user friendly bus service for the townships of Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to have so much local support behind this campaign,\u201d Jenny Wills from NBTAG said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also grateful for the support of Bellarine Community Health and its Healthy Communities Team who urge locals to remain involved and keep up their independence.\u201d<\/p>\n
As part of the campaign, locals entered the draw to win $100 Myki cards.<\/p>\n
The eight winners were drawn by the Health Communities Team and will receive their prizes at the campaign wrap up event at the BCH Portarlington site on Tuesday July 24 from 2.30pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to be able to present the Myki prizes as a thank you to our lucky winners, and hope they will use them to keep up the great work,\u201d Ms Wills said.<\/p>\n
Locals are invited to the Bellarine Community Health \u2013 Portarlington site, to share in the wrapup of the campaign and a light afternoon tea.<\/p>\n
The Use It or Lose it bus campaign has also been supported by the City of Greater Geelong through its Healthy & Connected Communities Program.
