THE Borough of Queenscliffe\u2019s 2018 Community Planting Day later this month will mark 10 consecutive years of community planting in the borough.<\/p>\n
\u201cTen years of community involvement in the care of our coastal environment is definitely something to celebrate,\u201d mayor Susan Salter said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is privileged to enjoy the support of such a committed and involved community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Volunteers are invited to join in with planting and maintenance weeding along the dunes in The Narrows, around Lovers Walk and the Dog Beach Car Park, on National Tree Day on July 29 from 10am to 12.30pm.<\/p>\n
The 2018 event is hosted by the Bellarine Catchment Network, the Swan Bay Environment Association and the Borough of Queenscliffe.<\/p>\n
A barbecue lunch will be provided for all volunteers from 12.30pm, and parking is available in the Dog Beach Car Park, access track 6B, Bellarine Highway, Queenscliff.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to rolling up our sleeves and mucking in with the Community Planting Day volunteers again this year,\u201d Cr Salter said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease remember to dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no need to pre-register or book, just turn up on the day ready to work and have fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
At last year\u2019s event, 24 volunteers braved wintery conditions to plant 300 indigenous trees, shrubs and groundcovers provided by the Queenscliff Indigenous Nursery.<\/p>\n
