GRADE four pupils at Ocean Grove Primary School received some insight into publishing a newspaper during a visit from the Bellarine Times last week.<\/p>\n
Photo journalist Rebecca Adam and advertising sales executive Katie Sankey took some time out on Thursday to talk to the pupils as part of their Junior Journos subject.<\/p>\n
The women spoke about what goes into creating the weekly paper \u2013 both editorially and in advertising \u2013 and then the pupils had the chance to ask some questions.<\/p>\n
The pupils wanted to know how the newspaper ran, the different teams involved, how it worked with advertising, how the editing took place and how layout was decided.<\/p>\n
The pupils will now work on creating their own class newspapers.<\/p>\n
Oliver said, \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to get started and see our newspapers. It will be an amazing experience\u201d, while Thomas said, \u201cIt unlocks awesome new experiences like being a journalist and is a phenomenal project. It will help us grow as a community\u201d.<\/p>\n
Sienna said, \u201cI think it is really helpful and I know we all agree being junior journos will give us a boost in our writing\u201d, while Annika said, \u201cI believe Junior Journos will increase our vocab and bring us closer together as a class because we\u2019re working as a team\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
