YOUNG leaders from across the state’s south-west have been invited to apply to be a delegate at a major regional conference to be held later this year.<\/p>\n
This year’s SEGRA (Sustainable Regional Economic Growth for Regional Australia) Conference provides a unique opportunity for all sections of the Australian community (both rural and urban) to explore the key issues affecting regional, rural and remote Australia and be part of providing positive sustainable outcomes to ensure future prosperity.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s conference, to be held in Mackay, Queensland on October 22-25 will focus on \u2018Beyond the Boom: Opportunities for growth and vitality\u2019. Mackay is a service centre for its broader agricultural, mining and tourism economies and SEGRA 2018 will be showcasing how regions can leverage the challenges of both these extremes to create vitality and growth in regions.<\/p>\n
The experiences of the Geelong region will be part of the conference – Community Broadband Networks partner Rod Macdonald and G2 Innovation co-founder Andrew Jones will be making speeches.<\/p>\n
Regional Development Australia Barwon South West will sponsor a delegate to attend the fourday conference, and is calling for expressions of interest from young leaders aged between 20 and 35 that work and reside locally to be involved.<\/p>\n
Participants must be from the municipalities of Colac Otway, Corangamite, Greater Geelong, Glenelg, Moyne, Queenscliffe, Southern Grampians, Surf Coast or Warrnambool.<\/p>\n
Eligibility criteria apply and expressions of interest will close on September 8.<\/p>\n
