THE Torquay Boardriders Club completed their fourth senior Aggregate for 2018 on Saturday in some of the best waves in their long history. With the Bells Beach 50 Year Storm event not running on Thursday, there was plenty of swell remaining for Torquay\u2019s best do battle in 6-8ft waves with perfect offshore winds all day.<\/p>\n
The John Pawson Jr memorial event is a special event for the Torquay Boardriders Club and is only called on when a TBC aggregate at Bells has big dangerous conditions. John Pawson Jr was one of TBC\u2019s best surfers who tragically died paddling around the Winkipop Button on a big swell in 1983.<\/p>\n
It was a day of big boards, big turns, big wipeouts and even bigger scores with both Todd Rosewall and Cody Robinson locking in 10-point rides in the Open Men\u2019s Division.<\/p>\n
As the dust settled on a massive day of surfing, club President Cahill Bell-Warren emerged victorious in the Open Men\u2019s division riding the same 6\u20198 surfboard he plans to ride in the 50 Year Storm event. With that extra paddle Bell Warren was able to put himself in the right position for the best waves throughout the day.<\/p>\n
Second place went to Cody Robinson, with Todd Rosewall 3rd and in his first TBC Open Men\u2019s final in 4th place as Kenta Fergusson.<\/p>\n
However, it was not only Bell-Warren that put on a show, with the Women\u2019s division\u2019s putting on an incredible display in the challenging conditions. Bella Wilson claimed both the Open Women and U\/18 Girls divisions, securing 9+ point rides on her way to victory in both.<\/p>\n
The biggest crowd response came from the U\/16 Girls division, with the Bells cliffs echoing the sound of hoots, whistles and cheers as Jazz Wylie, Mia Huppatz and Scarlett Currie charged some of the biggest waves of the day, with Wylie taking the win.<\/p>\n
In a great day for TBC\u2019s goofy footers, Cole Fox (U\/18 Boys), Marcus Huppatz (Masters Men) and Brian Currie (Legends Men) put on clinical displays of backside surfing to take wins in their respective divisions.<\/p>\n
Competing up an age group, current Victorian U\/14 State Champion Patrick Hughes showed that he surfs the Bowl well beyond his years and bullied the ocean on his way to a win in the U\/16 Boys division.<\/p>\n
Nichol Wylie secured victory in the Grand Masters men\u2019s division.<\/p>\n
The Rip Curl Most Outstanding award recipient was Brian Currie, after he wound the clock back to tear the bowl apart in the Legends final.<\/p>\n
The Dragon club person of the day went to Harry Mann.<\/p>\n
