ELEVEN local organisations have shared in more than $19,000 funding to support community, art and cultural projects and activities that enhance the quality of life of people living in the Borough of Queenscliffe.<\/p>\n
Mayor Susan Salter said the council was delighted to provide financial support so that local groups and organisations could continue to give back, and give more, to support the Borough of Queenscliffe community and provide opportunities for people to feel involved, needed and connected.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe theme of community involvement and support in the Borough is a constant one, and council is thrilled and honoured to play a part in this cycle,\u201d Cr Salter said.<\/p>\n
The recipients of Council\u2019s 2018\u201319 Community Development Grants program included the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre ($2,000) for Marine Discovery Rangers, Point Lonsdale Tennis Club ($1,511) for court maintenance, Bellarine State Emergency Service ($1,800) for a defibrillator, and Queenscliff Lonsdale Yacht Club ($1,377) for five \u201cDiscover Sailing and Canoeing\u201d family days.<\/p>\n
Queenscliff Kindergarten were awarded a grant ($2,527.65) for a kitchen upgrade, Queenscliff Community Sports Club ($2,000) for sound and visual equipment and Queenscliff Golf Club ($2,000) for the replacement of damaged flooring in the entry, bar and kitchen.<\/p>\n
Point Lonsdale Board Riders Club got some money ($635.80) for safety and identity coloured vests, Bellarine Community Health ($2,000) for \u201cBounce Back\u201d post-natal weekly exercise group, and Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House ($1,240) and Queenscliff Lighthouse Theatre Group ($2,000) also received funding. \nenvironmentally and socially sustainable, enhance leadership and develop a sense of pride, ownership and identity within communities.<\/p>\n
