THE Victorian Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business Election Luncheon with Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville in Queenscliff on Friday.<\/p>\n
About 50 guests attended the luncheon at 360Q, which promoted Victorian Chamber\u2019s Stronger Business, Stronger Victoria election priorities, and provided business leaders with the opportunity
\nto speak with Ms Neville about their concerns and possible solutions to strengthen Victorian businesses.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville, who is Minister for Police and Minister for Water, addressed the challenges of water security for the state moving forward, and said she was proud of how the makeup of water authority boards had changed over the years to be more diverse \u2013 especially with more women.<\/p>\n
Ms Neville also spoke about how she secured a 30 per cent increase in Victoria Police\u2019s budget \u2013 the biggest in history \u2013 and also the extra 3,100 police on the force.<\/p>\n
And she reflected on how far the Geelong region had come since she was elected to Parliament 16 years ago with investment in the region by the government and businesses in food and fibre, Avalon Airport, GMHBA Stadium and the tourism industry.<\/p>\n
During the event, Bellarine Bayside was acknowledged by Victorian Chamber chief executive officer Mark Stone with a certificate recognising 25 years as a member.<\/p>\n
The luncheon was part of 16 business luncheons delivered by the Victorian Chamber across Victoria in the lead-up to November\u2019s state election to help connect the business community with influential members of parliament in key electorates across the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
